Boredom Vanquished
Liam Harriet was bored. Not kind of bored. Not bored in a way that you're bored until you watch a cat video, and then you're entertained. He was bored with everything. Life was boring.
"I think you're depressed" his best friend Jeff said as they were on lunch break.

The Birth of a Warrior
It was a day like any other day.  Derek Rollins got up, ready to start another average day.  Glancing around his cluttered apartment, he thinks 'I really should clean this place up a little'.  Sighing, because he knows that he'll never find the time, he got ready to walk to his morning classes.  He rides down the elevator, grabbing a soda from the machine in the lobby, and as he walks out into the near empty city street, sipping his drink, he doesn't even see the semitruck bearing down on him until the last possible second.  Suddenly spinning in terror, "OH Holy SH-" *SMACK, CRACK, CRUNCH*. and that is how Derek Rollins left this world, and entered another.

Subraces
I'm going to take a quick break before I post the final 3 parts of the races section to talk about...Subraces! Subraces are basically mini races that can be added onto and modify the usual races. The benefits they grant can be incredible or tiny. Not all subraces are available immediately, but the ones that are have a * beside them. Normally, you can only have one subrace
Werewolf: Gives you the ability to transform into a large, wolflike creature. Lycanthropy has three stages: Werewolf Whelp (you transform into something that looks like a regular wolf with stretched out limbs), Werewolf Packmember (The classic, humanoid, beastly werewolf) and the Werewolf Alpha (A much larger version of stage 2)
At stage 1, you gain +5 Strength and speed in beast form, stage 2, +10, and at stage 3, +15
*Vampire: A subrace that gives you pale skin, lifedrain ability, a stat penalty during the day, and a bonus at night.  Vampires need to drink blood to sustain themselves. more powerful vampires are

Horizon's Races P8: Andrachtroe
In this portion of the Races section, I'll go over one race that would be at home in a scifi setting, while the other three are more at home in a fantasy place.
Android: Androids are very advanced mechanical creatures that are made to look like humans, with the exception of their 'Droid Lines', glowing lines beginning at the nape of the neck, running down the spine, and the back of the arms and legs, ending in a circle at the soles and palms, and their radar dish/antenna ears. The two main models of Androids are the Synthetic and the Mechanical. The Synthetic looks completely human except for the aforementioned traits, while the Mechanical's entire body is covered in a sheath of metal, with pupil-less glowing eyes.
Racial Bonuses: +5 Technology, (if Synthetic) +10 Charisma, (If Mechanical) +10 Defense
Arachnotaur: Arachnotaurs are basically the spider version of centaurs. With the ability to shoot webbing out of the abdomen and create a strong, light substance called silksteel.

Horizon's Races P7: Magnificient Magicks
This is part 7 of the Races portion. In this section, I go over some of the magically talented races.
Pantarhei: Shapeshifters born from the goop in the Shifting Caverns, Pantarhei can become nearly anything, and change in almost any way. They can become different races, people, mythical creatures and beasts, or even chimaera (mixed creatures). They can turn themselves into elements, inanimate objects, etc. They can change age, gender, appearance, very easily.;The only limit seems to be that they cannot grow past a certain size, anything larger than an elder dragon is usually too much. a younger, more inexperienced Pantarhei's powers can be a little unpredictable, resulting in accidental changes or 'getting stuck'.;A Pantarhei's true form appears to be a humanoid creature made of slime with thousands of tiny shining particles inside.
Racial Bonuses: Shapeshift

Horizon's Races P6: Light and Dark
In This part of the Races section, I'll be going over some more races. Angels and Demons, actually.
Seraphim: Essentially angels, they are created to serve the forces of light, and are tall majestic, winged, and very beautiful in appearance.  They have hundreds of tiny eyes inside their wings, and their skin glows with a subtle luminescence.
Racial Bonuses: Flight, Holy Might
Fallen Angel: Seraphim that have been cast out of the heavens due to their actions, they are light, but can also have a dark side. Their wings lack eyes, and maybe tattered or missing feathers, and their skin does not glow.
Racial Bonuses: Flight
Racial Penalties: -5 Luck
Demon: Demons are a humanoid race created to serve the forces of darkness, and one of the most diverse existing species. Their skin can be any color, and often has swirls or tribal patterns in it. Alpha Earth
I'm taking another quick break from races to go over our Earth, Alpha Earth.
Alpha Earth, or Earth 0 as some call it, is the home of humans and humans alone. No other sentient creatures live here. Magic is nigh nonexistent, existing in only the basest forms, unable to flourish, and the rules of this world prohibit the incredible technological wonders of Horizon's futures.  Due to its strict rules, travel out of and into this dimension via most conventional means are impossible. But, sometimes, usually by complete accident, people slip through the cracks, traveling to Horizon through the Void. The two most common ways for humans to enter Horizon are: After suffering some tragic fatal accident, and the Multiverse takes pity on them, sending them to Horizon for a second chance. They are called 'Chancers'.  The other most common way is by dreaming of the place. They are called 'Dreamers'. The travel to Horizon almost never leaves anyone unscathed. They are usually a radically dif

Horizon's Races P5: Bodacious Beasties
In this section, we'll go over some more...Animalistic races!
Wildkin: Wildkin are a very magical race, which reveres the wild places. They are created either by Wildkin producing offspring, or when an animal drinks from one of the 7 pools of power (see: Forest Pool, Mountain Spring, Plains River, Jungle Falls, Desert Oasis, Island Trench, Cavern Lake.) Wildkin are very special because there can be as many types as there are animals. They are all humanoid and bipedal, two arms two legs, but have many different traits, depending on the type of animal. Wildkin can be covered in fur, scales, skin,or chitin.  They can have horns, claws, sharp teeth, slitted eyes, etc. In a sense, they are anthropomorphic animals. They are heavily and unjustly hated in many cultures due to their animalistic tendencies, but have taught others not to mess with them by guarding their homes and territories with a ferocity unmatched nearly anywhere. (side note: Wildkin are basically furries!!!)

Horizon's Races P4: Going Greek
This portion of the races draws a lot from Greek mythology, and while they might not be exactly the same as creatures from Greek Myths, they are definitely inspired by them.
Satyr: Originally the magical combination of humans and goats, satyrs have two furry legs ending in goat hooves, and horns. They are very quick, and revere the wild places.
Racial Bonuses: +5 agility and speed
Centaur: Centaurs have four legs, and from the waist down they are horses, zebras, or deer, and from the waist up they are human. They are extremely fast due to their four legged half, and are proficient with the bow, because archery is encouraged in their noble tribal society.
Racial Bonuses: +20 speed, +10 Archery
Minotaur: Minotaurs fulfill the role of a classic monster. Huge, hulking, bullike beasts, with furred hides, huge horns and hooves, and giant meaty fists.  They range from 7-10 ft. tall and are tribal in nature. They are notoriously dimwitted.

The Races of Horizon Part 1
Here I'm just going to tell you the information on Horizon's many, many races, and those of you who are avid gamers or reader may see where I drew inspiration for a few of them!I've decided to break this up into sections (Seeing as how I'll never have time to post it all in one go). in this section I will be talking about humanity and it's different branching evolutionary paths.
Human: It seems inconceivable that you wouldn't know what humans are, but for the sake of thoroughness, I'll tell. Humans are a bipedal two armed race that have managed to survive due to their intelligence, quick learning, and tool making skills. Strangely enough, humans seem to be...er, sexually compatible and capable of producing offspring with many different races. Moving on.
Racial Bonuses: 2X Experience gain
Deep: One of the three separate evolutionary branches of humanity. When the Great Calamity happened early in humanity's evolution, this race fled to caves and completed their evolution  there. The

An Introduction to Horizon
Horizon is a world that was once much like our own in some ways (and always radically different in others), but, we need to begin at the beginning. In the beginning, there was the Void. And from the Void came the two primordial elements: Chaos and Order. Order was content with the Void, nothing but peaceful darkness forever. But Chaos, Chaos needed diversity, difference. Chaos asked Order for help and Order gladly agreed. They flexed their muscle for the first time, and Alpha Earth was created. Chaos enjoyed this creation, but was not satisfied. He realized that Order had created a strict set of rules in this dimension that could not be broken. Saddened that Brother Order would be no help, Chaos began to think. Ideas came rapidly. A beautiful world of magic and mystery, and not just one, but millions! Chaos, satisfied with this idea, unleashed an incredible burst of power, and millions of worlds were born, Horizon at the very center. Horizon, a beacon of magic and possibility. Horizon,

Names
When declaring an action, it's important that none of your characters share the exact same name. But some names are just more common than others. If two characters in the same party have identical names, at least one of them must have a nickname to be referred to by. If neither do, a placeholder nickname will be assigned to one of them based on their physical appearance, equipment, or stats. That said, feel free to call your character whatever you want! As long as all your party members can be told apart in text there's really no issue.
Sex and gender
A character's sex typically can't be changed. Though some magical or sexually isomorphic creatures can change their sex under certain circumstances or even at will, most are stuck with whatever they hatched with. However, you can freely change your character's gender at just

Normally an avid MMO player, Liam really hadn’t even found the energy to care this past week, and it had been nearly a month since he’d genuinely enjoyed…well, anything.
“Yeah, well, maybe I just don’t enjoy gaming anymore”
With a false dramatic gasp, Jeff replies “And maybe pigs are flying. Look Liam, be honest. What’s the problem?”
Sighing and rubbing his Forehead, he says “Honestly…I’m not quite sure. I just wish there was something more. All of a sudden, he spies something hovering in the middle of the room that definitely shouldn’t be there. A ball of rainbow light with a swirl inside it, constantly spinning, in an almost hypnotic way.
“Hey Jeff?”
“Yeah?”
“Do you see that?”
“See What?” Jeff says, his eyes darting around the room as he’s looking for something invisible to all but Liam.
“Well, it’s a..uhh…” His eyes widen as the orb begins to vibrate and pulse.
“What? What is it Liam?” Jeff asks with a worried look.
“Well, I’m not sure how to describe it, it’s kind of a…” His eyes widen even more, and he leans backward a bit as he sees it begin to twitch and grow.
“L? You’re sort of freaking me out. What. Is. It?”
“I don’t know!” he quietly shouts. “It’s a-“ and then, with a simple popping sound, like a bubble bursting, the orb shatters and a blinding, searing light is branded into Liam’s eyes. “Aargh! OW!” he says, blinking several times and seeing that same swirl pattern. When his vision finally clears, all traces of the unidentified object are gone, and Jeff looks like he’s about to call a doctor. “Sorry Jeff, I guess it was just some kind of weird migraine or something”, Liam says, his ennui already returning.
“Okay, you had me worried there for a second man. I was about to call the insane asylum, heh heh”
“Yeah, very funny,” Liam replies in a way that suggests he didn’t find that funny at all. “It was nothing”, He says, and pauses. “Just…Nothing,” he sighs.
That night as Liam crawls into bed, the mysterious sight returns to the front of his mind. What was that? He thinks to himself. Was it a hallucination? A ghost? A UFO?! His eyebrows rise at the thought. Knowing my luck, it was probably a sign that I’m either going insane or dying of some rare disease. He chuckles humorlessly to himself, and then falls into an uneasy sleep. Liam finds himself in the most spectacular place he’s ever seen. All around are stars, galaxies, nebulae, and all manner of beautiful, cosmic sights. Wow, he thinks just wow. But uh…Where am I? As he ponders this for a moment, he hears a voice. It seems to be coming from all directions at once, and inside his head. The voice is rich and powerful, but with a definite feminine tone.
“Hello, young one”
He looks around quizzically, Who said that? He thinks.
“I did” the voice replies.
Woah! You can hear my thoughts?
“Of course I can.” The voice says, sounding a little amused.
Wow. That’s impressive. He thinks, forgetting how depressed he is. Still pondering, he thinks Oh! This is a dream then. In a more sad thought, this is a dream, not real.
The voice says serenely “This is indeed a dream, but it’s more real than anything you’ve ever experienced. You will return to where you’re going every night, and eventually, you will go there permanently.
'Well', he thinks 'I guess this will be fun while it lasts, so thanks mysterious dream voice.' By the way, do you have a name?
Sounding delighted to be asked this question, the voice replies “I am Horizon. The Spirit of everywhere, and everything, young one.”
Stunned, he thinks, So, you’re like…A god?
“In a way, I suppose. Ah! I’ve got it!”
Got what? He asks confusedly
“I know what you will be in this world, which just so you know, is also called Horizon.” The voice pauses before continuing, “You will become Pantarhei. The consummate shapeshifter, able to become almost anyone or anything. You will possess incredible magical abilities. You will possess powers that seem unfathomable to you now. But it will take time. You will need time to learn how to use your inherent abilities, and grow others. Now, it is time for your change”
Umm…Change?
“Yes. You’re not Pantarhei yet, but that will be resolved quickly.”
There is a sudden flash of light.
“There! All done!”
Liam gets the feeling that his body is radically different. It feels a lot smaller, and slimmer. There is a weird weight on his chest, and he also has the sensation that something is…Missing, but he can’t put his finger on what exactly it was. This feels a little weird… Liam thinks.
With an amused tone, the voice says “Would you like to see yourself?”
Ummm…Sure! Liam thinks back.
“Wonderful!” The voice says, and a large mirror appears.
He, or rather she, is quite shocked by what she sees. O-oh my… Liam thinks, gazing at her body. She is significantly shorter than she used to be, appearing about 5”4. She has a very slender build, with perky breasts, and bright yellow eyes. Her skin is flawless and pale, and she has shoulder length black hair with shining silver tips, and a pair of black cat ears and tail. She is wearing a short black dress, the long sleeves flaring out at the cuffs. She’s wearing no shoes, but black leggings. Both the dress and leggings have a silver swirl pattern woven in. Stunned, Liam thinks, her tail twitching curiously I-is that me? Liam tries waving, and the girl in the mirror does the same. She reaches down to feel where her private parts were before, but just found a flatness. As her hand brushed the area, a tingling, pleasurable feeling runs down her spine. Eep! Okay! No touching there. She thinks as she pulls her hand away quickly.
The voice chuckles softly, and says “Do you like your new form?” It should suit you well while you gain mastery of your powers.”
I…uhm…it’s nice, I guess, but why am I…
“Female? I am Horizon. I desire all those that become a part of me to experience new, exciting things. A different gender is just one of those.”
I guess that makes sense…And this is a dream, so it’s not like I’ll have to deal with this for a very long time…
The voice says happily “Would you like a new name? I’ve been thinking of it for a long time!”
Umm…Sure, the somewhat confused catgirl thought.
“Great! Your name…Will be Lika!”
Lika, huh? Alright, that sounds nice, but…wait. I’m going to a new world! How will I understand or know anything?
“Don’t worry, I’ve provided you with a working knowledge of this world. The Chancers don’t get it, so they sometimes have a hard time.”
Chancers? What are – oohh… She thinks, as the fact that Chancers are people who die and come to Horizon pops into her head.
“Exactly” The voice says.
Alright, standard dream logic. I get it. The newly christened Lika thinks to herself
“Anyway… It’s time for you to go, young one. I’ve already kept you too long. Have fun, and be safe! But not so safe that it impedes your fun! BYEEEE!!!!” Then all of a sudden, the majestic sights fade, and Lika’s world goes black.
Boredom Vanquished
Done! I've already got a second part mostly done, just not typed. This chapter introduces Lika! Enjoy all!

(most chapters from here on out will be from Derek's POV)

Suddenly, I'm flying through a tunnel, the walls are hundreds of feet away, yet so close I could reach out and touch them. They are a trippy, swirling rainbow of colors.  This would probably be a good time to reflect on life or something, but instead all I can think about is how I'm on the flume ride from hell!
"Oh my God oh my God oh my God oh my God oh my Go- Hey wait" All of a sudden I realize I don't hurt.  in fact, I can't feel anything at all. Looking down, I realize that I seem to be missing everything in terms of the body department
"Uuh...Ok...That's weird". As I'm flying, I realize that the edges of the tunnel are turning white, and a blinding light is beginning to fill in the edges of my vision.
"Aaah! What's Going on?" I shout as the blinding light fills in the rest of my vision, then suddenly, black replaces the white.
I wake up as quickly as a passed out. Gasping, and panting, covered in cold sweat, I look down and examine myself, glad to see my body is still there. after a quick check to make sure all my extremities are still there, I look down at the strange clothing I'm wearing.  It seems to be some sort of tight fitting leather armor dyed blue, with blue metal plating on the knees, boots, chest, elbows, shoulders, and gloves. 'This is Kinda weird' I think to myself 'Who dressed me?', and then I realize my body feels a little...strange Examining closely, I see the muscles of my limbs underneath the armor, and they seem more muscular then they used to.  Not built like a bodybuilder, but more lean and toned-like a runner's muscle.  Shaking my head I think 'This just keeps getting weirder'.  Then I see the sword lying a few feet from me.  By all accounts, it is a beautiful thing, a handle of soft brown leather, the blade is wide and pearly white, with a shimmering blue line running down the middle. The shape reminds me of an X-acto knife,  straight, and then one side angles back to form a fine point. Perhaps weirdest of all is the fact that it seems to be...calling me, asking me to pick it up.  As I reach for it, I realize something that should have occurred to me long before now.  I have no idea where I am, but...Taking a moment to look around.. I'm in an underground cage.  There are rock walls, sloping up toward a ceiling about four feet above my head, and on the other side of me is a set of metal bars. And suddenly, I see a man standing behind them.  He's wearing strange red robes that obscure his face, and then he says
"Well, it's about time!"
"Uhh...What?"
"I mean, honestly, I Thought you would never notice me! You were just standing there admiring that armor, and sword, and yourself! I've never seen anyone so self absorbed!"
"Well, Sorry sir, it's just that I don't know where I am, why I'm dressed like this, why I'm suddenly fit despite rarely exercising, etcetera"
"Well, don't  worry, I can explain all that"
Oh, well thank y-"
"But I won't"
"Um...What? Why not?"
"All you need to know is that you are in another world, called Horizon, and I am a wizard."
"A wizard, what do you mean? Is that code for something, or?"
"A wizard" he says, and then flicks his wrist. suddenly, a shimmering ball of fire appears hovering above his hand.
"Woah! That...Uh, That's certainly something.  Alright, so you're a wizard, and I'm in another world. cool. Do you want to send me on some sort of magical quest or something? I'm down!"
"No. you're going to spend the rest of your life mining valuable ore and making me rich until you drop dead"
"And...how do you know I'm going to do that?"
"Because" He calms states, "Grizzle is going to put an enchanted collar on you that will make you obey me.  Oh Grizzle!". Suddenly, tromping into the room comes a hulking beast, covered in thick shaggy fur, wearing nothing but a loincloth and a glowing metal collar.  With huge horns and fists, and a bullish face, he certainly makes an intimidating figure.
"Grizzle here is a minotaur, and one of my overseers". He unlocks the cage, and as Grizzle steps inside, I can see that he is holding a smaller collar.  I'd like to say that I bravely picked up my sword and stood my ground, but what actually happened is I flopped to the ground, grabbed the sword and backed up against the wall on my hands and knees.
"Umm... Hey man, can we talk about this?"
"Sorry, no can do..." The wizard calls as he leaves the room "Grizzle, you know what to do".
Trying to negotiate with my captor as a get shakily to my feet, I say "Hey, uh, Grizzle, please don't do this, I-I'll give you anything you want!"
"Sorry" He says in a gruff, deep voice, "I can't resist the collar's enchantment, no matter how hard I try."
As he steps toward me, I decide to take a chance. I lunge toward him as fast as I can, swinging my sword in an over the shoulder arc as I go. Clearly expecting this, he casually unsheathes a huge battleaxe from behind his back and blocks my strike with the handle.
"Okay, Now I'm gonna have to hurt ya" He grunts and shoves me back, sending me tumbling like a kitten, and just as I see him raising the axe over his head, a blinding wave of power washes over me, and I hear a roaring in my ears as I scream "NO!!!" and raise the sword, pointing it at him with both hands. The blade glows a brilliant blue, and a blast of blue fire erupts from it, knocking him down and covering his chest in a blaze. I see the blaze on his chest turn white, then explode into smaller red fireballs rocketing around the room, quickly dying out as they hit the rock.  I stare at the burned pink flesh on his chest as he grunts and reaches for his axe, and suddenly realizes I've just sunk my blade a foot deep in his chest.
"Aah...Oh Gods...That's not good,"
"Oh Holy Christ! I'm so sorry, man I just reacted! I-"
"Shut up"
"Er-Excuse me?"
"Quickly, stab the collar!"
"Er...Okay." I stab the collar on his neck, and it stops glowing, breaks open, and falls off.
"Th-thank you" he stammers.
"Oh my God you're dying! We need to get you to a hospit-"
"Shut up and" he pauses to draw in a ragged breath, "Listen. This world can be a harsh place. you can't be afraid to kill people who are trying to kill you. If you want to help me-" He shudders, and his muscles tense "Kill people like that bastard wizard. Fight for what's right, and...See the beauty in everything."  He sighs. "Oh, one last thing...The key I-is tied in the fur on my waist. Escape the cage,". And with that, he draws in one last breath, and closes his eyes forever. I feel awful. I can't believe what I did to a guy that was actually pretty nice.  But a new emotion fills me. Rage. Rage at the evil wizard for causing this. The beginnings of a plan forming in my mind, I grab the key, unlock the door, and walk out, ready to face whatever lies ahead.

In this section, I'll go over some random races that don't seem to fit in anywhere else.

Without a body, they simply look like glowing, floating balls of energy.

Slimies: Slimies are slime people, with gelatinous bodies that are resistant to damage. They can do something called 'melding', bonding themselves to other creatures, wrapping around them like a suit of armor.
Racial Bonuses: +20 Defense, Meld

Beast: The Beastly Ones, or simply Beasts, are the nature goddess Wrenna’s favored race. They seem to be a mixture of several species. They are humanoid, bipedal, with two arms. They have a long prehensile tail, with very dense bone at the end, allowing them to use it like a club. Their entire bodies are covered in short fur that ranges from light to dark pink. They have retractable, long, sharp, slightly hooked claws that are very useful for climbing and fighting. Slitted eyes that can be any color. Very large, Fenneclike ears on the tops of their heads, and they have long, sharp canines in their mouths.
Racial Bonuses: +5 agility, +5 unarmed, wall clinging, Tail strike.

Sylvani: The plantlike counterpart to Beasts, they have green skin, a pair of antennae coming out of the forehead, and six fingers on each hand.  Much like Beasts, their eyes can naturally be any color. They also have insectlike qualities and come in 5 variants. The first variant appears almost human except for the green skin and antennae. The second is a naga-esque variant that is a millipede at the waist and below. The skin at the waist turns to chitin, and continues down and backward in one long segment with many pairs of legs. The third variant has another set of arms lower on the torso that end in a pair of razor sharp scissorlike blades capable of opening and snapping shut extremely fast. The fourth variant has a set of transparent, insectoid wings in an X shape on the back. And the 5th variant, often called the ‘Prime Variant’ has all of these traits, with the exception of the bladed arm set being actual fully functioning hands with the fingers ending in razor sharp points. All Sylvani possess the ability to ‘fuse’ with other races or creatures, combining their abilities and forms. This is very similar to what slimies do, except for the fact that they take it much further, actually becoming part of each other. They can unfuse when they are ready, although one tactic that mortally injured Sylvani sometimes choose is to permanently fuse with another creature in order to live on. Sylvani also have the ability to switch between the different variants, and all Sylvani eventually gain the ability to enter Prime form. Being plants, Sylvani are all hermaphroditic, and capable of bearing or siring children. They can appear feminine or masculine, however, and not all have breasts. Their underground hives are ruled by a feminine hivequeen and masculine hivelord. All Sylvani have minor telepathic abilities
Racial Bonuses:  Overgrowth, +5 Psionics, Metamorphosis, Fusion, (if human variant) +5 Charisma, (if Millipede Variant) Wall crawling, (if Bladed) Blade Strike, (If winged) Flight, (if prime form) All Abilities
